Stoomlink is a joint venture of Stratec, the disruptive digital studio Nextmoov, and VIAS Institute.

Stoomlink is launching its MobiScore today: a simple indicator that determines the level of mobility provision for any address in Belgium compared to the country’s ten main cities.

We were already familiar with the NutriScore launched by major retailers to rate food products, and, before that, the Energy Classes for household appliances. The concept is simple: A, B, C,… up to E, one letter and you know what a product is worth.

The Beta version already gives interesting insights, as, after a few minutes of use, very clear disparities appear between regions (Flanders being generally better served than Wallonia) but especially between large cities and suburbs, which show a MobiScore quickly in the red as soon as one leaves the city center.

The potential applications are almost endless: choosing real estate, a location—even temporary—for a commercial or cultural activity, decision-making aid for a city’s or municipality’s mobility policies, a marketing tool, information for investors, etc.

They speak of it better than we do (though in French): the Echo, Le Soir , or La Libre , among others.
