Carbon Assessment of Real Estate and Infrastructure Projects
The climate transition is now an unavoidable challenge for any stakeholder in construction, mobility, or more generally, spatial planning. Real estate projects (residential buildings, commercial complexes, or public facilities) as well as infrastructure projects (road networks, public transport, urban developments) often generate significant impacts in terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout their life cycle.
Aware of these challenges, we offer tailored support to analyse and reduce the carbon footprint of our clients’ projects.
In Detail
Stratec provides technical expertise to conduct comprehensive carbon assessments, relying on recognised methodologies (such as the ADEME carbon assessment, ISO 14064 standard, GHG Protocol, or national and European frameworks). We also integrate the results into more global assessment tools like Totem or GRO.
Each project is studied specifically, from the design phase through to operation, by integrating:
- Emissions related to construction materials (extraction, processing, transport).
- The impacts of construction site processes and logistics.
- The energy consumption of buildings and infrastructure during the use phase.
- Indirect effects, such as generated travel or induced mobility choices.
We also integrate the territorial effects of large-scale projects, particularly in connection with our expertise in evaluating the coupled effects between territorial development and transport (Land-Use-Transport modeling).

Results
Beyond a simple diagnosis, we provide comparative and prospective analyses that enable project owners, developers, and public authorities to make informed decisions.
Our deliverables include:
- A detailed carbon assessment report with clear and transparent indicators.
- Alternative scenarios integrating low-carbon materials, innovative construction techniques, or sustainable mobility solutions.
- Strategic recommendations to reduce emissions from the design phase, in order to anticipate future regulations and enhance the project’s environmental image.
Key Benefits
By integrating the carbon assessment from the initial phases, our clients benefit from a dual advantage:
- Economic: optimising long-term costs by limiting energy dependence and anticipating regulatory constraints.
- Environmental and Societal: actively contributing to carbon neutrality objectives and strengthening the social acceptability of projects.
Our ambition is to transform climate constraints into a lever for sustainable performance. By working with us, you ensure rigorous, independent, and innovation-oriented support, so that every real estate or infrastructure project becomes a driver of the low-carbon transition.
